A barn find!

Found this in a local barn. It had last seen use in the summer of 09.

I picked it up for $200.

It needs some TLC as can be seen for the pics.

Needs a new battery and the exhaust tips are rusted through.

I am hoping to be able to keep it completely stock, so if anyone has or knows where to find NOS or good used Mufflers, let me know.

It appears to be factory installed too.

Looking down into the triple tree, everything is boxed off and there are no signs of there ever being headlamp mounting brackets attached there.

I hope to find some NOS parts to bring it up to snuff.

That's just the angle of the photo that makes it look that way.

Found some new muffler tips, paid $20 for the pair.

The shop I got them from has 3 more pairs, if anyone needs any, let me know.

Put them on today, fit nicely too.

They fit tight inside the H-box connection and attach to the stock brackets using the back hole.

Not running yet.

Still have the seat and tank off and all the rear lighting to reconnect.

Didn't take any new pics yet though.

I did have to remove the collars from inside the pipe as the new ones are a tight fit into the H box outlets and they clamped up nice and tight.

I used the original hangers with the mufflers attached into the back hole.

Update!

Thought I should update this since I now have the bike { Scruffy } on the road.

Looking much better now but still needs the windscreem.

Added some LED light strips to the front running lights for better visibility to others.

Went for a short ride yesterday afternoon with my neighbor.

No leak, that was like that when I got it.
I did a thorough overhaul of the brake system before I even tried to get it running.

Here's some updated pics of how it looks now and my 40 mile ride this morning.

Note the home made wind screen, cut down from a snowmobile windshield.

Pictures taken at my new Lodge location.

When you see a black garnish (part that holds the windshield down) that indicates a Hondaline fairing which could be ordered with a mount for the CX 500 Custom. BTDT in 1982 when I worked for a Honda dealership. You could remove the paint and polish it up like a mirror if you wanted to. Or, how about a brushed aluminum finish with Scotchbrite?
