Water may accumulate in the spark plug well if the drain hole is blocked.

The caps should have a resistance of 5000 ohms. If yours measure at that resistance no need to do the brass rod modification nor to order new caps.

I also want to look into high way pegs. Using them would shift my butt so my tail bone will not hurt, I hope as bad, when riding.
I did see a post where someone made a set to bolt onto the 2 tabs on either side of the motor (wished the pictures worked) and may try the same as I dont think I would ever be able to find anything for a 40 year old bike LOL
