Looking for a new or rebuilt starter for a friend's '83 GL650i. His hot-seized yesterday. Please message me. He is also a car-bike journalist and you can message him on his website. Old Bike Asterisk * - EPautos - Libertarian Car Talk

I may ride out to his place this afternoon and check out his situation. Thanks to all!

I have one I could clean up and mod for him, but I won't be able to start on it for a couple weeks. It would be at least a month before I'd finish.

Thanks Randall. He mentioned ordering a parts kit in his latest post. I'm going over to see what his original looks like apart. Won't a GL500 starter work? This is making me think about having my own spare ready for the "inevitable" myself, lol!

It's like the CDI units. Different part numbers, but the only functional difference is paint.
