I'm pretty new at this cafe racer thing and my CX 500 tank was trashed beyond repair. I have found a near perfect, no rust inside at all, tank off of a 77 to 78 CB 750. How much work is it gonna take to make this tank fit my bike? My biggest question is, does anyone know if it is wide enough?

i have the same issue and have tried to dry fit the tank... too narrow but with some convincing i think it will work

I have a '78 CX with the tank off and a '78 750K tank loose in the shed. I tried the 750 tank on the CX after I read this, and it's about an inch too narrow everywhere, from the tunnel to the mounting pads. It's just not going to fit without cutting the tunnel.

i think that if i had some body working tools....like a portapower...an ultra compact hydraulic jack... i think that with one of those i could easily make it fit great... anyone have one want to let me borrow one? lol probably not in this state or eastern usa...
