I just latched on to a 650 crashbar and was wondering about installation. I see where the uppers mount to but not sure where the lowers attach. At just a quick glance under my bike I see nothing that I think is strong enough to bolt to. Any suggestions/pictures as to where these go? Thanks

Well isn't that a question. There are two 650's so which is yours? Cx or gl? Put that info in your signature line. Also there are several different types of bars so it's hard to say. If they are highway bars then they most likely attach to the tabs on the bottom of the engine in the front.

Otherwise there are adapters needed for certain ones.

I have a GL650i. The bars are in a "bow" config and the uppers look like they bolt onto the front engine mounts and the lower section have some trailing bars about 6 or 7 inches long that look like they go rearward to (?).

I'm sure you are describing the same bars I had on my bike. I searched for a picture of the attaching points but couldn't find a good one. Can't take you a new picture because I don't have the bike anymore. But, maybe this picture helps?

The bottom trailing bars should bolt onto the exhaust collector box mounting bolts. You may need to get a pair of slightly longer bolts. If they do not, then suspect the setup was not for the GL650.

Thanks guys !! I cannot figure out how to upload a picture on this site (not totally computer literate). The crashbar is in 3 pieces, with the lower trailing pieces that have vertical tabs that may bolt to the exh collector box.

I think you all have been very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. Hey if they don't fit then they will be for sale.

To post a picture you need to first upload it to a photo site such as Photobucket.com. Then click the icon in the wordprocessing area that looks like a picture. When you roll a cursor over it, it says "insert image". You simply copy and paste the link from the photo site for that picture into the box that shows up when you click the "insert Image" icon.

Thanks guys for all the good input. Thanks to WayneDW for the photo advice. Had to remove the header pipes, fairing skirt, but it fits nicely. I just wanted a little more protection in case of a low speed incident or tip over. Now I'm looking for a rear crashbar or saddlebag protector rails.
