Hi

Can anyone advise whether I can mate a 500 Eurosport engine to 650E frame/driveshaft? I have the 4 bolt 650 swing arm but no driveshaft and I can see the 650 driveshaft is different to the 500. Can the 500 drive shaft be used to link between the 500 engine and 650 final drive, do I need to source a 650 drive shaft and UJ or is it more complicated and the 500 engine will not mate to a 650 drive shaft?

I believe that you will have to change the final shaft in the 500 engine to the 650 one in order to use a 650 drive shaft. Others with more experience may know better.

To use the 500 engine in the 650 Euro frame you`ll need to swap the engine final output shaft to the 650 type (straight swap but engine out and rear cover off job) and then use a 650 driveshaft (which is different to the 500) and then the 4-bolt 650 type final drive.

actually the 650e driveshaft is spring loaded forward same as the cx650c
i have used a gl500 motor in one without changing the output shaft and it has been no problem
the driveshaft stayed in teh correct place despite there being no stopper ring in the splines
the flat end on the gl500 out put shaft keeps it lined up the same length at teh same distance it seems
that bike is still running years later

The OP does not have the 650 drive shaft, would like to use a 500 drive shaft in the 650 swing arm with the 500 engine.
Having ridden a 650 my advice would be to find a 650 engine and drive shaft.

Reclinedrelic - a 650 engine would be great but they are rare beasts in UK, usually only available as individual parts or full bikes (£3k+)

murrayf - so you had a 500 engine and used 650 drive shaft and swingarm? This could work for me as driveshafts are easier to come by
