Prep day today and a good thing I decided to check the oil level - turns out the dipstick had snapped so the mechanics had to drain the oil and partially disassemble the engine to find the missing bits (they couldn't find the tiny hatched bit from the bottom). With a new dipstick and 800ml of fresh oil I'm now ready to head off tomorrow!

There are 51 riders in total starting tomorrow and at least two of them are from the US (plus there are about six-eight from New Zealand and a few from the UK).

Wow. a plastic dipstick?...That's very disappointing in a Honda....but hey! Good Luck!

 

Have you looked at the dipstick on your twisted twin?

 

Have you looked at a dipstick from just about any small engine manufacturer? I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a metal one.

 

BRITTLE plastic then. THIS one looks like it is meant to duplicate a metal one in the original Honda Trails...? . and, yes,my Hondas have the Short Black plastic ones but I can't see how they'd ever break in normal use. a different kind of plastic

not so hard - my 80's 2 cyl Suzukis have long metal ones.
