Picked up a used 81' Silverwing Interstate GL500, and noticed the front and back brakes squeal. Generally a lot when the bike is cold, but still after warmed up. Front dual pad sets have plenty of pad left on them, but the rotors have been somewhat grooved by past events. I am wondering if this is a maintenance issue that is resolved by a front caliper rebuild or having the rotors turned (front brakes not super aggressive like on most of my prior bikes). The back shoes will require back tire removal to inspect.

Hey Will, welcome. The issue is probably age and glazing. My first 81 Wing had pronounced rear sqeal, with tons of pad left, new shoes, no squeal. Fronts are probably the same. You could probably scuff the pads somehow, but they are relatively cheap to replace, and brakes being the most important system on the bike, you might as well do so.
