I have a 1980 cx500 custom had for a couple of years and the ignition switch has went out does any other year models work with this year. I have been told that they do have a repair kit for this model but i dont beleive this is a option becouse it looks like someone in the past has took a small hammer to it have know idea how it was working but it never failed until about a week ago and only local shop is a harley davidson shop and he didnt seem to eager to help with any questions on my honda thanks for any help

I think any CX 78-81 will work,,no GL's though and not the 82 CX. It must be from a CDI type bike.

The plug can also be hotwired for the time being.

Well the ignition switch when unpluged is stationary well the plug just needs two jumpers one that goes from red to black and another jumping brown to brown/white.



Or you can run a lead wire from the battery to the fuse panel.

I just stumbled upon this because I'm looking for a 1980 CX500C Ignition Switch (or a Lock Set). Why is a GL switch not an option? According to the Honda parts microfiche, they have the same part number (35100-415-017). I'd like to find what I need without buying parts that I'll never be able to use. Thanks.
