I just got a 1978 CX500 and I was trying to take it apart so I could powder coat the frame and wheels. I tried to take off the bolts that hold the rear wheel comstar together. Two of them broke in the process and I couldn't get the other three out. A friend told me that you are not suppose to take those bolts out...ever.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Or do I need to buy a whole new rear wheel? If so, is anyone sailing one?

Thanks

Others can advise you better but these wheels weren't designed to come apart.

Havng said that there are members who do it fairly routinely, you just need to source the right hardware to reassemble with.
